Shalu Menon Serial actress

Television luminary and former member of the Late Show Censor Sheet, Shalu Menon, embroiled in the solar commission scandal that has sent shockwaves through the state, approached the Kerala high court on Monday seeking bail.

Shalu had been taken into custody earlier this month based on a complaint filed by Rafique Ali, who alleged that she had accompanied the fraud-accused Biju Philosopher when he collected Rs 20 lakh from him.

In her defense, Shalu maintained that she had not received any illicit funds related to the solar scandal. She emphasized that her assets were derived from her career in the entertainment industry, including acting and dance programs. She clarified that she had purchased a car through a legitimate financial institution.

Previously, her plea for bail had been rejected by a lower court in Thiruvananthapuram.

Meanwhile, the high court deferred its decision on the earlier bail application of A Firoz, the suspended Director of the Public Relations Department. Firoz is also implicated in the solar case, accused of defrauding several individuals of crores of rupees by promising them solar commission solutions.

During the proceedings, Judge S S Sateeshchandran questioned the authorities about why the accused had not been arrested while undergoing medical treatment in a hospital after the incident came to light.
